How can I find out why my bank denied my loan application?

Within 30 days of receiving a completed application from a consumer, your bank should notify you, in writing, of its action—and either the reasons for that action or instructions on how to request a statement of the specific reasons for that action—on your application. This is required by law under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. If you do not receive written notification of the bank's decision within 30 days, contact the bank. If you are still having trouble obtaining a response from the bank, you can contact the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency's (OCC) Customer Assistance Group for help.
